U.S. to sell record $58 bln. in notes, add reopenings by Rachel Koning
The United States will sell $58 billion in 3-, 5- and 10-year notes next week -- the most ever for one quarter, the Treasury Department announced Wednesday. To help meet financing needs, Treasury will auction 5-year notes each month and will reopen 10-year notes on an intra-quarterly basis. Treasury said the current auctions are not impacted by the debt ceiling, but said that without a change in the law the government is funded only through mid-May.
