WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. consumers slowed their pace of borrowing slightly in May but were still drawn to dealer lots by low rates on loans for new cars, the Federal Reserve said in a report on Tuesday.
The Federal Reserve said consumer credit outstanding increased by a larger-than-expected $7.3 billion in May. April's data were revised downward somewhat, to a gain of only $7.9 billion from the previously reported $10.7 billion advance.
"In May, both revolving and nonrevolving credit posted moderate gains," the Fed said.
