OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) - Oklahoma has dropped criminal charges against former WorldCom Chief Executive Bernie Ebbers, a clerk for Judge James Paddleford said Thursday.
A spokesman for Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson had said on Wednesday that the charges may be pulled, deferring to federal prosecutors investigating the bankrupt long-distance company, and that Edmondson would pursue his case against Ebbers at a later time.
The state charged WorldCom, now known as MCI , Ebbers and five former executives with violating state securities laws by knowingly giving false information to investors.
