WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush said Monday "we fully expect" the markets to set the value of the dollar while reiterating his support for a strong-dollar policy.
Bush would not rule out new tax cuts next year. "We'll see," he told a news conference.
"Part of the economic policy of this administration is a strong dollar policy. We fully expect markets to set the dollar. But we have a strong dollar policy, which is, in our judgment, good for the economic vitality of this country," Bush told a news conference.
