Iniciou-se hoje a época de divulgação dos resultados do terceiro trimestre. Amanhã é a vez da General Electric antes da abertura.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) 14.11 unch
After warning for Q3 (Sept) on Oct 5, chip maker meets the lowered Reuters Estimates EPS consensus of $0.12 on revenues that increased 2% to $1.24 bln; This was below the market's expectation of $1.30 bln, but the company provided reasonably upbeat guidance for Q4 (Dec); Said overall sales should rise, 'driven by processor sales that exceed seasonal trends, and flat-to-up Flash;' This has kept shares flat tonight; Competitor INTC has actually dropped some

Alcoa (AA) 33.80 -0.28 (-0.8%)
After sharply lowering its Q3 (Sept) outlook on Sept 9, world's largest aluminum producer matches the downwardly revised consensus EPS estimate of $0.34 (up 3% year/year); Revenues, however (which rose 13% to $5.97 bln) missed the Street's forecast of $6.13 bln; Management noted that a plant strike and the impact of Hurricane Ivan negatively offset the effect of higher aluminum prices; Alcoa itself has not been able to capitalize off the strong aluminum environment, due to a number of company missteps (i.e. missed in the last 3 quarters)

AT&T (T) 15.47 +0.43 (+2.9%)
Third largest US telephone company unveils its latest restructuring plan: intends to write down the value of its network assets by $11.4 bln in an attempt to boost FY05 earnings by as much as $1 a share; Also said it will cut its workforce by 20% (7,000 jobs) in FY04 - ahead of its original goal of 8%; AT&T has said it plans to stop marketing phone service to consumers after a series of regulatory decisions made it more difficult to win those accounts; Company is in the midst of re-positioning itself in an increasingly competitive telecom space
