Motorola (MOT) 17.60 -0.90 (-4.9%)
Handset maker tops the Street's Q3 (Sept) EPS expectation by a penny, but then misses on sales - coming in at $8.62 bln versus $8.67 bln; Motorola gave in line guidance for Q4 (Dec), but then described handset inventories as 'very lean;' Adds that its Q3 (Sept) handset market share was down sequentially; This report seems to indicate that rival Nokia (NOK) has won share from Motorola; The company turned in a better than expected Q3 (Sept) report last week and also raised its Q4 (Dec) outlook

Electronic Arts (ERTS) 44.00 -2.66 (-5.7%)
Largest video game publisher misses the Q2 (Sept) consensus EPS estimate by $0.03 - coming in at $0.31 - and then warns for Q3 (Dec) revenues and EPS; Management then issues in line guidance for FY04 (Mar), implying that Q4 should make up the difference; Still, the implication that Q3 should be weak - ERTS' largest quarter - has sent shares spiraling in the after hours; Co continues to be hurt by sluggish hardware sales (on its call, said Playstation 2 units should be down); Competitors ATVI and TTWO are lower tonight as a result

Monster Worldwide (MNST) 25.28 -0.52 (-2.0%)
World's second-largest staffing company delivers a 55% jump in Q3 (Sept) EPS, to $0.17 (consensus of $0.16), and a 33% surge in revenues, to $227.1 mln (consensus of $223 mln); Company's comments on Q4 (Dec) were limited to 'we believe we are well positioned to continue to grow revenues and earnings;' Stock has been range-bound year-to-date as a result of the uneven labor market and the lackluster rate of job creation

Seagate Tech (STX) 14.41 +0.18 (+1.3%)
After raising its Q1 (Sept) outlook on Sept 7, hard disk drive maker exceeds the market's earnings expectation by $0.04 per share; Gross margins also came in ahead of consensus estimate at 17.7%; Management issued better than expected Q2 (Dec) guidance: put EPS at $0.11-0.14 on revenues of $1.58-1.65 bln; On its call, co said it expected its enterprise market share to increase 2-3%; STX has plunged over 50% over the past year on multiple earnings warnings - the improved forecasts have thus helped build management credibility
