Deutsche Bank surged 7.6 percent to 76.60 euros per share as a report from AFX citing trader talk that Citigroup may bid 90 euros per share for it sent shares surging. A bank spokesman in London declined to comment.
Deutsche has been at the forefront of German bank speculation of late, as the long-rumored talk of Commerzbank-HVB consolidation has ebbed.
