Inventory management software maker misses on both the top and bottom-line in its Q3 (Nov) report; Software revenues plunged 61% and service sales decreased 12%; Company plans a headcount reduction as a way to offset its operating loss; This is the third out of the fourth quarter Manugistics has missed profits estimates, and the third quarter in a row it has reported a net loss

Maker of printed circuit boards tops the Q2 (Nov) Reuters Estimates consensus by $0.04, but comes up short on revenues; Goes on to issue worse than expected guidance for Q3 (Feb) - calling for a $0.05-0.11 loss as compared to expectations of a $0.01 profit; Blames lower average prices and a seasonal slowdown in quick-turn orders, among other things; Company recently announced its acquisition of Data Circuit Systems, and received an upgrade from Wells Fargo to Buy from Hold following

After guiding higher for Q3 (Nov) Sept 30, handheld device maker exceeds the Reuters Estimates EPS and sales consensus figures; Blackberry subscriptions, though, came in light at 387K (versus talk of 397K); Management mentioned on its call that the quarter ended on Nov 27, not on Nov 30; The company's guidance for Q4 (Feb) was uninspiring: EPS of $0.60-0.67 and revenues of $390-410 mln as compared to the Street's forecast of $0.62 and $411.3 mln, respectively; Stock has more than doubled this year; Rival PLMO is down 1% tonight

Solectron (SLR) 5.61 -0.42 (-7.0%)
After warning for Q1 (Nov) Sept 28, electronics contract manufacturer reports a profit of $0.05 per share, in line with expectations, on top of flat revenues of $2.69 bln; The Street was expecting the top line to come in higher, at $3.02 bln specifically, so the stock has dropped tonight; The company cited softness in its consumer end market for cable TV set-top boxes and third-generation wireless handsets, which it attributed to product delays/transitions; The rest of the EMS group has declined tonight

Cognos (COGN) 43.70 +0.42 (+1.0%)
Canada's largest software company turns in a 42% increase in Q3 (Nov) EPS, to $0.37 (consensus of $0.33), and a 22% rise in revenues, to $210.4 mln (consensus of $201.5 mln); Software license sales jumped 26% to $91.6 mln; The company guided Q4 (Feb) earnings and sales in line, but put FY05 EPS and revenues above consensus estimates; As a result, the stock has moved higher and set a new 52-week high in the process
