Banc of America Securities upgraded Pixelworks (nasdaq: PXLW - news - people ) to "buy" from "neutral" and raised estimates and the target price. Banc of America cited "solid design activity" for Pixelworks' Photopia chip, improved industry dynamics and potential near-term share price appreciation from buzz at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. The research firm said valuation is "compelling" based on revised estimates. Banc of America Securities said it prefers Pixelworks, a provider of system-on-chip integrated circuits, over key competitor Genesis Microchip (nasdaq: GNSS - news - people ).
