Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) 15.25 -0.25 (-1.6%)
After warning for Q4 (Dec) sales on Jan 11, producer of memory and microprocessor chips meets the Reuters Estimates top-line consensus but misses on the bottom-line; Excluding charges, Advanced Micro reported EPS of $0.05 (consensus of $0.06); Looking to Q1 (Mar), the company expects processor sales to be flat to down due to seasonality, and for flash memory revenues to be down due to (among other things) continued pressure on ASPs; AMD has given back little as traders reason that it's priced accordingly (stock has dropped 38% since Dec)

IBM (IBM) 95.10 +0.20 (+0.2%)
Big Blue shows a 16% increase in EPS, to $1.81 (consensus of $1.76), and a 7% rise in revenues, to $27.67 bln (consensus of $27.51 bln); Two of the company's most important segments, software and service, exceeded Street forecasts in their sales; IBM reported a $1 bln rise in its services backlog to $111 bln - a reversal from the drop seen last quarter; On its call, management indicated that revenues can grow at 'a point faster' than current forecasts, excluding the PC business which is being sold; Added that 2005 estimates are reasonable

Juniper Networks (JNPR) 26.96 +0.50 (+1.9%)
Marketer of internet protocol routers handily surpasses Q4 (Dec) Street estimates, coming in at $0.15 for EPS and $430.1 mln for revenues; Company signals on its call that it expects a strong FY05 from an industry environment and guidance perspective; Says it sees Q1 (Mar) sales of $430-440 mln as compared to the Reuters Estimates of $422.8 mln; The company also indicates that it plans to increase FY05 R&D and sales/marketing spending

Motorola (MOT) 16.85 -0.58 (-3.3%)
Diversified technology company tops the Q4 (Dec) consensus estimates handily, reporting EPS of $0.27, revenues of $8.84 bln, and handset shipments of 31.8 mln; Co still finished second to rival Nokia (NOK) though, in terms of handset shipments; Motorola's gross margins were also a bit light in comparison to analyst expectations, at 33.6%; Finally, management's 1Q05 (Mar) outlook was on the low-end of estimates: EPS of $0.17-0.20 and sales of $7.5-7.9 bln, compared to Reuters Estimates figures of $0.20 and $7.62 bln

Rambus (RMBS) 20.29 -1.02 (-4.8%)
Designer of computer memory technology delivers a 25% decline in Q4 (Dec) EPS, to $0.06, and a $19% increase in revenues, to $38.6 mln; The latter matched the Street's estimate while the former fell $0.02 short; The company also asked Korean memory chip maker Hynix Semiconductor to correct what it said were misleading statements regarding a Rambus European patent; The claim cited a recent European Patent Office (EPO) decision; The stock has rallied 24% since early Nov, and thus traders have taken profits off the report

Yahoo! (YHOO) 37.75 +0.57 (+1.5%)
Internet giant handily surpasses the Reuters Estimates EPS and sales estimates in its Q4 (Dec) report; Company credited strong online advertising revenues; Company guides Q1 (Mar) and FY05 revenues in line, although they are closer to the low-end of analyst estimates; According to the research firm Nielsen/NetRatings, Yahoo! was the top destination for internet users; Other internet plays, such as AMZN, EBAY, and GOOG have lifted on the results
