[US May durable goods orders +5.5%] after +1.4%r in Apr, but ex-
transport orders were -0.2% after -0.7% in Apr, showing weakness in
most sectors. Nondefense aircraft orders were +164.8% in May and +23.6%
in Apr, a result of Boeing Co. booking massive orders before and after
the Paris air show. Motor vehicle orders were +0.2% in May as the sector
experiences slowing. Elsewhere orders mainly dropped tho electrical eqpt
and semiconductors were higher. NDCG shipments posted -0.7%, and the Q2
avg so far stands about 7% above the March number, showing growth in
investment. On net, this is a weak report in its core. Nondefense orders
were +5.3%, also reflecting aircraft gains.

[US May new home sales +2.1% to 1.298 mln units] vs downwardly rev Apr of
1.271 mln units (prev 1.316 mln). In Midwest +22.9% to record high 268k,
NE -24.5%, South -0.8%, West +1.7%. May supply on market is 4.2 months,
same as April. Median sales price -6.5% to $217,000.
