Mais uma "aldrabice" nos dados norte-americanos!

É um autêntico escândalo mas parece que ninguém se importa. Onde anda a imprensa especializada nestas situações?

Decididamente já não vale a pena dar relevância aos dados que surgem do lado de lá do Atlântico. Na sexta-feira passada saíram os dados do Orçamento norte-americano com valores que indicavam um apreciável superávit. Nada mais enganador...

"Don't be impressed with the U.S. government figures stating a $44.5 billion surplus for December 06. According to the Treasury, the Feds ran a $47 billion dollar deficit for December (http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm). How do they turn a huge deficit into a huge surplus? They do this by applying excess Social Security and Medicare payments to the budget. This money is owed to future retirees and disabled citizens so how can this money be counted as a surplus? It's like me taking out a loan and putting it in my bank account and claiming to make a profit. The 2nd crime is that this money will later be returned to retirees at a 2% CPI increase when inflation is more like 8 to 10%. This is a huge windfall for the government and is equivalent to them issuing a $91.5 billion bond at 2%. And we have the audacity to tell other nations they are not fair with their citizens. At a minimum, the government should have annual increases in the amount of 30 year bond interest rates."

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation."
